又一個畢業(yè)季即將來臨,紐約時報做了一個小范圍的調(diào)查,調(diào)查內(nèi)容為都市區(qū)高等學歷人才的密集度,調(diào)查對象為全美超過100個都市區(qū)至少擁有一個本科學位的25歲以上的人群,以2012年度為樣本,并且對比1970年的數(shù)據(jù)。
這項調(diào)查重點強調(diào)了這個事實,雖然在過去的40年中,受良好教育的人數(shù)越來越大,人們對大都會區(qū)的熱衷程度變化不同,以俄亥俄州的戴頓市為例,1970年度,該城市在全美100大都市區(qū)排名49位,當時有很好的工作機會,比如NCR和GM這樣的大公司,當時不需要大量的高等學位人才。而現(xiàn)在隨著制造業(yè)的萎靡,戴頓市在全美的都會區(qū)排名已跌落到85位,只有24%的成人擁有一個大學學位,這個數(shù)字低于整體平均值 32%。相比之下,芝加哥都會區(qū)在1970年和戴頓市一樣是著名的制造業(yè)中心,擁有高等學位的人群和戴頓相當,但在接下來的40年中,經(jīng)濟的發(fā)展以及高附加值服務(wù)業(yè)的興起,2012年芝加哥都會區(qū)在全美100大都會區(qū)中排名升至18名,相當于34%的成人擁有一個4年制學士學位。說明了都會區(qū)的發(fā)展和高等學位人群緊密相連,相輔相成。歡迎咨詢威久留學>>>
這兩個地區(qū)佐證了隨著時間的變化,都市區(qū)對高等學位人群的吸引力變化趨勢:1970年在20個高等學位人群最密集區(qū)里,有16%的成人擁有大學學位,而到了2010年,這個數(shù)字升到了38%,有22%的增長度,在20個高等學位人群最不密集區(qū),這些都市區(qū)也有了長足的發(fā)展,大學學位擁有人群比從9%增長到了25%,但這16%的增長度,仍然使它們落后于那些于那些“聰明”的都會區(qū)。1970年前10名里7個高等學位最密集的都會區(qū),在2010年仍然在前10名了,其中,華盛頓特區(qū)在2個年度里都是名列第一名。1970年高等學位人群最不密集的后10名里只有4個在2010里繼續(xù)呆在“最不聰明”列里,而硅谷吸鐵石效應(yīng)的城市比如斯托克頓,莫德斯托和貝克斯菲爾德在那個日期排名還有所回落。[SITESERVER_PAGE]
