David Thornber

Regional Manager (East Asia, Singapore and Australasia)

David began his career as a musician in the Royal Marines Band Service in 1975. During his tenure in the Royal Marines, which spanned 22 years, David was involved in a variety of ceremonial performance, music direction and educational roles. One of the highlights of his career was the two years that he spent on HM Royal Yacht Britannia, accompanying the Queen of England on state visits Worldwide.

Teaching and education have always been important to David. He was personally involved in the Royal Marine’s training programme for overseas military musicians and taught instrumental music in a number of private and state schools.

David holds a Bachelor deGREe in music from the University of Sheffield and the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, in addition to professional postgraduate qualifications in business development and marketing.

From 1997, David embarked on a career in the travel industry and held management positions in tour operations and business travel. This was followed by an opportunity to work in international recruitment. David joined the University of Portsmouth in 2001, in the role of International Officer, with regional management responsibilities for China and then South Asia. A move to the University of Winchester in 2005 saw David take on the role of Head of International Development, during which he developed and implemented marketing plans and established International student recruitment for the institution.

In January 2007, David joined Durham University’s International Office as its Senior International Officer. His initial, main responsibilities included operating as a country manager for South Asia, Africa and the Gulf Region, developing key partnerships with overseas universities and institutions and managing Durham University’s portfolio of overseas educational agents. He is currently Durham University’s Regional Manager for East Asia, Singapore and Australasia。

杜倫商學(xué)院通過了三重認(rèn)證(EQUIS，AMBA和AACSB)，是位列世界前1%的頂尖商學(xué)院，部分金融類碩士課程具備CFA(特許金融分析師)認(rèn)證，課程涵蓋了70%以上的CFA考試內(nèi)容。每年都會有CFA協(xié)會的老師來學(xué)校進(jìn)行考前培訓(xùn)，學(xué)生可以免費(fèi)參加培訓(xùn)，對于將來想考取CFA認(rèn)證的同學(xué)，來杜倫大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)金融是一個很好的選擇。

學(xué)校分為兩個校區(qū)：杜倫市校區(qū)和斯托克頓的女王校區(qū)。這兩個校區(qū)可以通過全周無休的免費(fèi)巴士頻繁往返。

杜倫大學(xué)是一所學(xué)院制大學(xué)。該校的學(xué)院是寄宿制學(xué)院，為學(xué)生參加社會與學(xué)術(shù)活動提供了極佳的場所。各學(xué)院不負(fù)責(zé)教學(xué)，教學(xué)由各系主管。但學(xué)院不只是為學(xué)生提供住宿，同時也組織迪斯科、藝術(shù)展覽、客座講學(xué)以及音樂會等各種活動。該校給每位學(xué)生都配備一名學(xué)院導(dǎo)師，在學(xué)習(xí)和生活方面給予他們幫助。
